The power light is not illuminated
Press the on/off button, located on the front of the machine
No power?
Have you changed the fuse? If not, please replace the fuse in the plug with another 13 amp fuse
Fuse changed and still no power?
Does the machine go on and off when moved?
Is the floor wetter than expected?
Remove the cloth from the machine and wring out or replace with a dry one
A coral pad will leave the floor drier than a microfibre pad
It is not always necessary to hold the trigger down constantly when using the machine. If you find the floor is getting over wet, try releasing the trigger especially when completing several passes over the same area
Is the floor sticky or streaky?
Using the incorrect amount of detergent can cause the floor to become sticky or streaky
Fill the detergent tank with 50ml of Vax Steam Detergent and 150ml of water
The clean water tank should be filled with clean water only
Still sticky/streaky?
Yes?
Turn the detergent control dial (on the side of the machine) to 'Off'
No improvement?
Have you checked the floorhead for a blockage?
Switch the machine off and unplug from the wall socket
Press the button on the neck of the machine to remove the floorhead
Run water through the floorhead of the machine to check for any blockages that may need to be removed
Clear any blockages by inserting the small thin object into the holes underneath the floorhead
Re-assemble the machine, switch on and hold trigger in for 1 minute (or until steam appears)
No steam?
Go to 'Is the tank fitted correctly?'
Has the clean water tank run dry?
If the water tank has run dry, the safety thermal cut out to the pump may have been activated
Leave the machine for 2 hours and try the following:
Fill the water tank halfway
Turn the machine on and wait 1 minute for it to heat up
Remove the handheld, place your hand below the nozzle on the handheld to see if the machine feels warm
Machine warm?
No?
Yes?
Re-place the handheld into the machine and press the trigger on the handle and check to see if steam is released through the base
No steam?
Go to 'Have you checked the floorhead for a blockage?'
Is the tank fitted correctly?
Remove the clean water tank and the hard water filter that sits behind
Half fill the clean water tank
Re-fit the filter and tank ensuring that there are no gaps
Switch the machine on and hold trigger in for 1 minute (or until steam appears)
No improvement?
Go to 'No steam from the handheld'
Is there a blue light?
When the machine is switched on, a blue light should appear on the front of the handheld
Blue light on?
No?
Go to 'Intermittent or no power'
Yes?
Remove the clean water tank and the hard water filter that sits behind
Re-fit the filter and tank and ensure that there are no gaps
Switch the machine on and hold trigger in for 1 minute (or until steam appears)
No steam?
Is there an unfamiliar smell coming from the machine?
Empty both tanks and rinse out thoroughly
Remove hard water filter from the machine
Smell coming from the filter?
Yes?
A replacement filter will be required, go to 'Spares' tab above
No improvement?
Is the tank fitted correctly?
Remove the clean water tank and the hard water filter that sits behind
Half fill the clean water tank
Re-fit the filter and tank ensuring that there are no gaps
Switch the machine on and hold trigger in for 1 minute (or until steam appears)
